Top reasons for crystal skepticism.
Crystal energy and crystal healing powers have been debated well..forever. You may have a friend who swears by it and another friend that's convinced it’s just “new-age” nonsense. Who do you believe? Or perhaps you've had an experience with one Crystal yet when you tried a different crystal..it didn’t “work”. And what does it mean for a crystal to “work“ to begin with?
The most important thing, and possibly the only thing that matters in answering this question is the most basic. Since the Curie brothers in 1880, the electrical properties of crystals have not only been studied but used in everyday inventions. Quartz & Tourmaline are the top two. In fact, Quartz is used in wristwatches, clocks, radios, computers, and cell phones. The military has used quartz crystals in their field radios. World War I France invented sonar using quartz crystals. And so on..
So the question is never, do crystals have or put off energy? Because obviously, they do. If we have proven that Quartz and Tourmaline especially, both produce electrical charges and electrical fields..what other energy do crystals have the power of doing that we don’t even know about yet?
In the second part of that, since the beginning of recorded history, every civilization and culture has documented the use of crystals and gems stones associated with healing powers..are we to say that every culture and civilization is wrong? Or that perhaps they were all wrong in the same way?
So based on just those two things it’s pretty safe to say that even if we do not completely understand it, crystals have the capability of producing energy and energy fields the likes of which we can’t possibly measure.
In addition to the particular energy and electricity that has been proven by crystals, there is also the light refraction, as well as color beams that have been proven to have an effect on our mood, as well as what colors we see. For example, Andalusite has pleochroism, meaning that a single beam of light can appear as 2 to 3 different colors depending on the angle from which you look at it. Also, more common stone labradorite. Depending on the angle that you look at it, depends on what colors become visible. Moonstone is another good example.
Again, dating back to the beginning of written records, every civilization and culture has associated certain emotions and effects to specific gemstones and crystals. Red with power, purple with royalty, blue with serenity, and white with purity.
So knowing all of this, and being able to research this for ourselves, brings us to the question of this article. Why is there any skepticism in the question of do crystals have energy and can it be healing?
The answer is simple. If you have a cup that is full of water, you can’t add any more water to it without overflowing. It’s the same with crystals. If there is a particular crystal that does not seem to have any kind of effect on you, your mood, or your environment.. it simply means that right now, your fault. You do not need the benefit that this crystal can provide. That is not to say that at some point in time you won’t need the energy healing from that particular Crystal. Just that right now, you can certainly admire the crystal for its beauty or particular characteristics, but you’re not in need of the energy it provides and you won’t feel the effect from it.
Another reason that some people have had bad experiences with crystals is they've experienced an adverse reaction. Such as it just doesn’t feel right, you do not want it in your hand or on your skin. It doesn’t mean that it’s a bad crystal, it doesn’t mean that it only provides bad energy. It only means that the energy that it puts out you do not need right now. This does not mean that this Crystal will never be good for you, or it isn’t good for anyone else. Simply that right now, the energy it provides is not in your best interest.
I myself am guilty of judging a crystal based upon my initial reactions to it. Luckily, I had so many positive experiences with crystals before I encountered one that was not meant for me at that time, I never closed my mind off to the possibility the crystals do work. But for many people, the skepticism overrides and in fact, cancels out any possible benefit that a Crystal could give them.
It is my personal belief that in addition to the energy of a crystal being not needed right now, there are also times in situations where you might not ready for its energy.
I also believe that there are some crystals that for whatever reason, will never harmonize with you. For example, if you ask anyone to name a popular crystal/gem..Amethyst would be probably in the top 2. It is considered to be one of the best healing crystals for a variety of reasons. For whatever reason, I simply dislike amethyst. To the extent that I have to force myself to use it in crystal healing and jewelry making. There is no particular rhyme or reason for this, I simply don’t like it. However, that does not and should not take away from someone else getting enjoyment and or healing energy from that particular stone.
This is why it’s important to always keep in mind that just as every one of our bodies is different, the way that a crystal interacts or affects each one of us is going to be different. And that’s OK.
